Tim Anderson retires after a decade in MLB

Tim Anderson has announced his retirement after 10 MLB seasons, citing persistent pain and anxiety from injuries that hindered his ability to compete, despite loving the game. The former White Sox shortstop peaked from 2019–2022 with a batting title, Silver Slugger and two All-Star selections, and went 16-for-33 in the postseason. He hasn’t played since being released by the Angels in 2025 after a prior stint with the Marlins, and suggests he may remain connected to the White Sox through community outreach and a Sept. 17 first-pitch ceremony to honor his career.
