Japanese Pokemon Card Shop Implements Age Restriction on Sales

A Japanese card shop, Hareruya 2, has restricted the purchase of select Pokemon card packs to only junior high school students and younger, banning adults and parents from buying them. The shop will limit 10 packs per person per day and check identification to confirm the buyer's age. The decision was made to ensure that children have access to the cards and to prevent stock exhaustion caused by adults buying them. The move comes after a string of robberies in Japan and the US that targeted high-valued Pokemon cards.
