TL;DR

Nintendo will be shutting down online services for the 3DS and Wii U on April 8, marking the end of an era for these consoles. While offline functionality will continue, online play and services like SpotPass will cease to exist. This move reflects the dwindling user base and the economic impracticality of maintaining these services for a small fraction of players. However, exceptions such as Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter will continue to operate, ensuring that players can still store and transfer Pokémon.
