"Producer Speculates Final Fantasy VI Remake Would Take Twice as Long as FF7"
TL;DR
Final Fantasy 6 remake would take approximately twice as long as the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, according to producer Yoshinori Kitase. He cited the game's size and the number of characters as factors contributing to the extended development time. While there is internal interest in remaking FF6, the transition from 2D to 3D presents challenges. Reports suggest that a Final Fantasy 9 remake is more likely and currently in development.
