Sony Unveils PlayStation Portal: A Game-Changing Remote Play Handheld

Sony has unveiled the PlayStation Portal, a $200 handheld device that allows users to stream PS5 games through remote play. The Portal features the same design and ergonomics as the PS5's DualSense controller, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchpad. It uses Wi-Fi to connect to the PS5 and can wake up the console when turned on. The eight-inch 1080p LCD display delivers PS5-quality visuals, and during a demo, no noticeable latency was experienced. The Portal runs on Remote Play, allowing users to access their PS5 account, progress, and trophies. However, it requires a strong internet connection and does not run apps or games locally. Battery life and compatibility with existing headsets are still unknown.
