FTC Launches Claims Process for Fortnite Players Overcharged for Unwanted Items

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has started notifying over 37 million Fortnite players by email that they may be eligible for compensation as part of a settlement with Epic Games. The settlement, totaling $245 million, was reached after the FTC alleged that Epic Games used deceptive practices to trick players into making unwanted purchases. The money will be used to provide refunds to consumers, and they have until January 17, 2024, to submit a claim. The FTC's interactive dashboards show that in 2022, their actions resulted in over $392 million in refunds to consumers nationwide.
