Sony DWX Gen 4 Unveiled: 32-Bit Float Recording, Ultra-Low Latency, Big Price Cut

At IBC 2026 Sony unveiled the DWX Gen 4 wireless system, adding onboard 32-bit float recording in the new DWT-B40 bodypack and a 1.1 ms latency, plus a four-channel DWR-R40Q receiver, with backward compatibility to Gen 3 gear. The 32-bit files live on microSD (up to 2 TB, ~1,000 hours) and aren’t transmitted; European tuning covers 470–694 MHz, and pricing cuts place the bodypack around €1,290 and the four-channel receiver around €6,490, with availability expected February–March 2027. Note: onboard recording may still be limited in the U.S. due to patent constraints.
