"Explosion Injures 9 Los Angeles Firefighters in Fuel Tank Blast"

Nine Los Angeles city firefighters were injured, two critically, in a semi-truck explosion fueled by compressed natural gas. The explosion, which occurred as firefighters were attempting to put out a fire, caused a ball of flames that reached as high as nearby utility poles and resulted in one transformer exploding. The injured firefighters were evaluated for burn, blast, and airway inhalation injuries, with some being blown back by the force of the explosion. Hazardous material specialists are monitoring the air in the area, and the incident is still under investigation.
