Max Verstappen won the Monaco Grand Prix in treacherous rain conditions, claiming his fourth win of the Formula 1 season and extending his lead in the season points standings. Fernando Alonso finished in second place and Esteban Ocon in third, but neither were serious challengers to Verstappen. The rain caused frantic pit stops and tire changes for the leaders, but Verstappen emerged in the lead and held his cool through the slippery conditions to claim victory.
