Arrested Suspect Charged in Murder of Pregnant Amish Woman

Shawn C. Cranston, 52, has been arrested in connection to the murder of 23-year-old pregnant Amish woman Rebekah Byler in Pennsylvania. Cranston allegedly broke into Byler’s home, shot her in the head, and slashed her throat. His daughter, who was raised by him, expressed disbelief and suggested the murder may have been a case of mistaken identity, as Cranston wanted his grandson back from the Amish couple who previously lived in Byler’s home. Cranston has been charged with criminal homicide, criminal homicide of an unborn child, burglary, and criminal trespass, and is currently held without bail in the Crawford County Jail.
