Arson Attempt on MLK Jr.'s Birth Home Thwarted, Suspect Arrested

A woman has been arrested after attempting to burn down the birth home of Martin Luther King Jr. in Atlanta. Two off-duty NYPD officers and two Utah tourists intervened and detained the woman before she could ignite the gasoline she had doused on the home. The Atlanta Fire Department's HAZMAT team will clean up the gasoline spill. The woman, who is 26 years old, is facing charges of criminal attempt to commit arson and criminal attempt to damage government property. The home, currently undergoing renovations, will be closed until the project is completed in 2025.
