Former GOP Candidate Indicted for Shooting at Democrat Officials' Homes

Former Republican candidate for New Mexico House of Representatives, Solomon Peña, has been indicted by a grand jury for organizing a shooting spree targeting the homes of four elected officials, all Democrats, following the 2022 midterm elections. The shootings were carried out between Dec. 4, 2022, and Jan. 3, with assistance from co-conspirators. Peña faces a mandatory minimum of 60 years in prison if convicted. The indictment charges Peña, Demetrio Trujillo, and Jose Trujillo with conspiracy, interference with federally protected activities, and several firearms offenses, including the use of a machine gun.
