Former Memphis Officer Pleads Guilty in Tyre Nichols' Beating Death

A former Memphis police officer, Desmond Mills Jr., pleaded guilty to federal charges of excessive force and obstruction of justice in the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols, becoming the first of five officers charged to do so. Mills also agreed to plead guilty to related state charges and cooperate with prosecutors, who are recommending a 15-year sentence. The other four officers have not yet indicated whether they will change their pleas.
