"Kidnapped Texas Girl Rescued in California After 'Help Me' Sign Leads to Arrest"

A 13-year-old girl who was kidnapped in San Antonio, Texas, and repeatedly sexually assaulted was rescued in Long Beach, California, after passersby saw her holding up a "help me" sign in a parked car. Steven Robert Sablan, a 61-year-old man from Cleburne, was arrested and indicted on charges of kidnapping and transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. The girl had left home to visit a school friend in Australia and was coerced by Sablan, who sexually assaulted her multiple times during the drive from Texas to California. Sablan was found with handcuffs, a BB gun, a switchblade knife, and a sign labeled "Fetish Fantasy Series Designer Cuffs." The girl is now in the custody of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
