"Proud Boys' 'Trusted Lieutenant' Sentenced for Cooperation in Jan. 6 Case"

Charles Donohoe, a former high-ranking official for the Proud Boys, has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Donohoe, described as a "trusted lieutenant," pleaded guilty to conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding and assaulting officers. He cooperated with federal authorities in a seditious conspiracy case against other Proud Boys members. Donohoe has been held in federal prison since his arrest in March 2021, so the sentence is nearly time served. Several paragraphs about his cooperation were redacted. Donohoe's lawyers stated that he joined the Proud Boys in 2018 but decided to leave the organization when he accepted responsibility for his actions. Over 1,200 people have been arrested in connection with the Jan. 6 attack, with more than 450 sentenced to incarceration.
