Thieves Seek Lesser Charge for Stealing Sale Items

Two thieves from Colorado, Michael Green and Byron Bolden, argued for a lesser charge after being convicted of retail theft at a Kohl's department store. Their defense lawyers suggested that because some of the stolen items were on sale, they should only face a misdemeanor charge. However, the district attorney's office rejected this argument, stating that just because an item is on sale doesn't mean it's free to steal. Both men were convicted of felony theft, with Green receiving a 15-month prison sentence and Bolden receiving jail time with credit for time served and 18 months of probation.
