Tragic Shootout in Austin Leaves Officer, Hostages Dead

An Austin police officer and a barricaded armed suspect were killed in a shootout, while two hostages were found dead and another officer was injured. The incident began when a woman called 911 for help, claiming she was being stabbed. As officers arrived at the scene, they were informed that two other individuals were injured inside. After a woman managed to escape and inform authorities that the suspect had a knife, SWAT was called in due to the suspect being armed and holding two hostages. During the rescue operation, the suspect opened fire on the SWAT officers, resulting in two officers being struck. One officer died, while the other is in stable condition. The suspect was also pronounced dead, and the cause of death for the two hostages is currently unknown.
