Virginia Graduation Shooting Leaves Two Dead, Suspect in Custody

Richmond Schools Superintendent Jason Kamras announced that schools would be closed for the remainder of the school year, with no classes held Thursday or Friday, and other school events, like moving on ceremonies, were also canceled. The shooter had attended the Huguenot graduation before exiting the Altria Theater and opening fire, killing graduate Shawn Jackson and his stepfather Renzo Smith. The suspect, Amari Ty-Jon Pollard, appeared in court on Wednesday. The other graduation ceremonies that have been canceled would be rescheduled to next week, with limited seating and enhanced security measures.
