Dengue Outbreak Escalates in Florida with Locally Acquired Cases on the Rise

Health officials in Florida have reported four more cases of locally acquired dengue, bringing the total number of cases to 10 this year. The virus, which is spread by infected mosquitoes, has been increasing in South Florida, with cases first appearing in January and March before resurfacing this summer. Florida Health has issued a warning about the spread of dengue and advises residents to take precautions such as draining and cleaning areas that collect water and using insect repellent. Dengue can cause mild symptoms such as fever and rash, but severe cases can lead to shock and internal bleeding.
