Government Resumes Free At-Home Covid Test Program

The US government has restarted its free at-home Covid-19 testing service in an effort to curb the spread of the virus during the winter months. The tests can detect the new strain of the virus and individuals can request up to four free rapid antigen tests. The program, which initially launched in January 2022, was temporarily halted earlier this year due to supply constraints. Hospitalizations have been increasing in recent weeks, prompting the Biden administration to invest $600 million in domestic Covid-19 test manufacturers. The tests can be ordered online or by phone, with free shipping starting in early October.
