Escalating Attacks on US Forces in Middle East Amidst Israel-Hamas Conflict

Since October 17, there have been a total of 42 reported attacks on US military bases, with two recent attacks occurring in Syria and Iraq. These attacks, involving rockets fired at American and coalition forces, have not caused any injuries or infrastructure damage. The US military conducted an airstrike in response to the Syria attack, targeting a weapons facility used by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated groups. Additionally, an Iranian-backed Houthi militia shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone near the Yemeni coast. The Biden administration had previously removed the Houthis from the US list of terrorist groups.
