Rudy Giuliani's Defamation Appeal Faces Major Obstacle

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani may face a significant obstacle in his attempt to appeal the defamation ruling in Georgia, where a jury ordered him to pay $148 million to two election workers. Attorney Barbara McQuade explained that Giuliani would need to post an appeal bond, which is typically more than the judgment amount, to proceed with the appeal. If he fails to obtain the bond, he may not be able to appeal at all. McQuade also mentioned the possibility of Giuliani petitioning the court to argue that the ordered payment is excessive, but even if successful, he would still be responsible for tens of millions of dollars.
