Sports Illustrated's Parent Exposes Allegedly Fake AI-Generated Articles from Third-Party Provider

Sports Illustrated has ended its partnership with AdVon Commerce, a third-party company that supplied allegedly AI-generated articles and photos of nonexistent authors. Evidence emerged that the photos of these authors were available for purchase on a website selling AI-generated headshots. After being contacted for comment, the bios of the fake writers disappeared from SI's website. Arena Group, the publisher of Sports Illustrated, stated that the articles were licensed content from AdVon Commerce and that the company assured them the content was written and edited by humans. However, it was discovered that AdVon had writers use pseudonyms, prompting Arena Group to remove the content and end the partnership.
