Ed Sheeran Talks Copyright Trial and Impromptu Performance in NYC.

Ed Sheeran discussed the recent resolution of the copyright lawsuit over his 2014 song “Thinking Out Loud” in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning. Sheeran stated that the use of the same four chords in pop songs makes it likely that similar lawsuits will continue to arise. He also discussed his new album, a Disney+ docuseries about him, and personal struggles including anxiety and insecurity. The lawsuit was filed in 2016 by the family of Ed Townsend, Marvin Gaye’s co-writer on “Let’s Get It On,” alleging that Sheeran plagiarized elements of the song for “Thinking Out Loud.”
