"Typhoon Saola Threatens Hong Kong and Macau, Prompting Shutdowns and Alerts"

Hong Kong has raised its alert level to the second-highest as Super Typhoon Saola approaches China's southern coast with wind speeds of 220km per hour (135mph). The Hong Kong Observatory has warned the public to stay indoors, find safe shelter, and avoid coastal areas due to the possibility of serious flooding and storm surges. China's National Meteorological Centre issued a red alert and over 100,000 people have been relocated in eastern China's Fujian province. Several Chinese cities delayed the start of the school year, and transportation has been disrupted with thousands of flights and trains cancelled. Saola passed south of Taiwan and is expected to make landfall in coastal areas stretching from Huilai to Hong Kong.
