Claudia Sheinbaum Becomes Mexico's First Female President
TL;DR
Claudia Sheinbaum has been elected as Mexico's first female president, winning with a significant lead over her competitors. The former Mexico City mayor and climate scientist, representing the ruling MORENA party, will continue the policies of her predecessor, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. The election, marked by a lower turnout and ongoing concerns about cartel violence, also saw significant participation in other local and congressional races.
