Colorado Supreme Court Disqualifies Trump from 2024 Ballot, Pending Appeal

The Colorado Supreme Court has disqualified former President Donald Trump from appearing on the state's ballots for the 2024 election due to his incitement of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. However, the ruling has been stayed until Jan. 4, pending further appellate proceedings. The Trump campaign plans to appeal the decision to the U.S. Supreme Court. This is the first time a state court has disqualified Trump from an election based on the U.S. constitutional provision barring individuals who have engaged in "insurrection" from federal office.
