Ziegler is married to Bridget Ziegler, a school board member and co-founder of the conservative parents group Moms for Liberty. The group has gained prominence in Florida under Governor Ron DeSantis, who appointed Bridget Ziegler to a leadership position. The allegations come as DeSantis was set to appear in a debate against California Governor Gavin Newsom. The Republican Party of Sarasota County expressed shock and disappointment and stated that they take such allegations seriously. The Democratic Party of Florida called on Ziegler to resign.
