Hong Kong pro-democracy activist Agnes Chow flees to Canada, skipping bail

Hong Kong pro-democracy activist Agnes Chow, who moved to Canada to pursue her studies, has announced that she will not return to Hong Kong to meet her bail conditions, becoming the latest politician to flee the city under Beijing's crackdown on dissidents. Chow, who was arrested in 2020 under the national security law, served more than six months in jail and faced pressure that caused "mental illnesses."
