"Key Witnesses Testify in Ken Paxton Impeachment Trial"

The defense team in the impeachment trial of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton rested their case after attacking several of the 16 impeachment articles and downplaying Paxton's conduct as part of his duties. Closing arguments will be presented on Friday, followed by private deliberation and voting on each article. Support from two-thirds of eligible senators is required to permanently remove Paxton from office. The defense called four witnesses, including agency executives who defended Paxton's actions and argued that the whistleblowers who reported him to the FBI for bribery deserved to be fired.
