"Mark Meadows seeks federal court protection to avoid arrest in Georgia case"

Former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows has asked a federal judge to move the Georgia criminal election interference case to federal court in order to protect himself from being arrested. Meadows' attorney proposed that the federal court issue an order barring Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from arresting him this week. Meadows and 18 other co-defendants, including Trump, face a Friday deadline to surrender to jail. Meadows argues that his bid to move the case will be harmed if he is arrested before a scheduled hearing on Monday. Meadows is charged with racketeering and solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer in relation to his participation in a phone call where Trump urged Georgia's Secretary of State to "find" enough votes to overturn Biden's win in the state.
