"Peter Navarro Sentenced for Defying Jan. 6 Committee Subpoena"

Former Trump adviser Peter Navarro is set to be sentenced for defying a congressional subpoena from the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Navarro was convicted in September on two counts of contempt of Congress for refusing to appear for a deposition and produce documents. Prosecutors have requested a six-month prison sentence for each count, while Navarro's attorneys have asked for no more than six months and a $100 fine for each count. The Jan. 6 committee's 17-month probe concluded with the release of its final report in December 2022, which found a "multi-part conspiracy to overturn the lawful results of the 2020 Presidential election" and made 11 recommendations, including affirming the way electoral votes are certified and improving Capitol Police effectiveness.
