Tension and Malaise Surround Sierra Leone Election.

Sierra Leoneans are voting in a general election amid concerns of violence and a troubled economy. The main opposition party has alleged that one of its supporters was shot dead by police, which the police have denied. The two leading presidential candidates are President Julius Maada Bio and Dr Samura Kamara. Violence has increased compared to five years ago, with 109 incidents counted since April. The election comes months after a landmark law which says women must make up 30% of all positions in both the public and private sector, but the next parliament is expected to fall short of this.
