"Trump's Gag Order in Election Case Upheld with Limitations"

A federal appeals court has upheld, but narrowed, the gag order imposed on former President Donald Trump in his criminal election interference case in Washington, D.C. Trump and others involved in the case are still restricted from making public statements about witnesses and parties affiliated with the case, but can now speak about special counsel Jack Smith. The court found that the original gag order was overly broad and violated First Amendment rights. Trump's lawyers had appealed the order, claiming it was an attempt to silence him and harm his 2024 presidential campaign.
