NPR's Twitter Use Suspended Over 'Government-Funded' Label

National Public Radio (NPR) has quit Twitter after the social media platform labelled its account as "government-funded media", a term that NPR says undermines its credibility. Twitter later changed the label to "state-affiliated media", but NPR still considers it misleading. The move follows growing friction between Twitter and news organisations since Elon Musk bought the platform last year. The Public Broadcasting Service has also stopped tweeting from its main account, saying Twitter's label leaves the inaccurate impression that PBS is wholly funded by the federal government.
