Deadline Approaching: Claim Your Share of Facebook Lawsuit Settlement Funds

Facebook users in the United States have until August 25 to file a claim for a share of the $725 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit over the privacy of user data. The settlement, reached by Meta Platforms (Facebook's parent company), is open to users who had a Facebook account between May 24, 2007, and December 22, 2022. To file a claim, users must provide basic information about their Facebook profile and choose their preferred payment method. The amount each user will receive is yet to be determined and will depend on the number of valid claims submitted. The settlement is awaiting final approval, with eligible funds expected to be released after a court decision on September 7. The lawsuit alleged that Facebook (now known as Meta) shared user data without permission, including with third parties such as app developers, business partners, advertisers, and data brokers.
