Tragic Fire in Johannesburg Claims Dozens of Lives

A fire engulfed a rundown five-story building in Johannesburg, South Africa, that was being used by homeless people, resulting in the death of at least 73 individuals, including seven children. Some residents jumped out of windows to escape the blaze, potentially leading to additional fatalities. Another 43 people were injured. The building, located in the city's central business district, was filled with makeshift structures and obstructions, making it difficult for residents to escape and hindering emergency response efforts. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
