Spokane Wildfires Force Mass Evacuations as 600+ Structures Burn

Three blazes in the Spokane area—the Old Trails, Fairview, and Autumn Lane fires—collectively the Spokane Complex Fire, have burned 7,708 acres with zero containment, destroyed more than 600 structures, and forced about 60,000 Spokane residents to evacuate; statewide, 15 wildfires have burned roughly 250,000 acres. No injuries have been reported. Federal incident management teams have taken command; Cal Fire crews are coordinating national teams. Officials cite a historic weather event with elevated fire risk and strong winds driving the fires, while tens of thousands remain under evacuation orders and about 12,000 utility customers are without power.
