Pope Francis has been discharged from Gemelli Hospital in Rome after a three-day stay for a respiratory infection. The pontiff, 86, joked with reporters, saying, "Still alive!" before visiting the Basilica of St. Mary Major to pray for the souls of those he met during his time at the hospital. During his hospitalization, he continued to work in a limited capacity, bringing gifts to the pediatric oncology ward and baptizing a child. He also sent a papal telegram to the Diocese of Nashville to express condolences for the victims of the recent school shooting.
