Taliban eliminates ISIS-K leader responsible for Kabul airport attack.
TL;DR
The Taliban killed the ISIS-K leader responsible for the deadly suicide bombing at Kabul airport's Abbey Gate in August 2021, according to the National Security Council. The terrorist attack killed 13 US service members and over 170 Afghans. The US withdrawal from Afghanistan has limited its ability to carry out operations in the country, and ISIS-K has increased its attacks in the region. Republicans have criticized the Biden administration for the withdrawal, while Democrats argue that mistakes made over 20 years of war and presidents of both parties led to the final outcome of America's longest war.
