27 Suspects Charged in Germany's Alleged Far-Right Coup Plot with Russian Links

German federal prosecutors have charged 27 suspects, including former members of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, over an alleged coup plot orchestrated by the extremist "Reichsbürger" movement. The charges include membership in a terrorist organization and preparation for an act of high treason. The suspects planned to overthrow the German government, establish a new order, and had already made concrete preparations, including stockpiling weapons and allocating roles in a future government. They intended to break into the Reichstag parliament building in Berlin and arrest members of the Bundestag. The cases will be heard in higher regional courts in Frankfurt, Munich, and Stuttgart. The Reichsbürger movement denies the existence of Germany's post-World War II Federal Republic and rejects the authority of the German government.
