Americans to face retrial in Italy for officer's killing.

Italy's highest court has ordered a retrial for two American citizens, Finnegan Lee Elder and Gabriel Natale-Hjorth, who were convicted in the stabbing death of an Italian police officer during a sting operation gone wrong in July 2019. The court threw out the guilty verdicts and will instruct an appeals court on the precise issues to examine in a new trial. The two men were sentenced to life in prison in the initial trial, but the appeals court lowered the sentence to 24 years for Elder and 22 years for Natale-Hjorth.
