Criminal charges filed against Mexico's top immigration official for migrant detention center fire.

Mexico's top immigration official, Francisco Garduño, will face criminal charges along with five others in connection to a fire that killed 40 migrants in a government-run detention center in Ciudad Juarez last month. Federal prosecutors allege that Garduño and another immigration official engaged in criminal conduct by failing to comply with their obligations as government agency leaders and to monitor, protect and provide security to people under their charge, promoting crimes committed against migrants. Four other public servants will also face charges for being directly linked to the conduct that led to the migrant deaths.
