Fatal Shooting at Al-Aqsa Mosque Gate in Jerusalem

Israeli security forces shot and killed a man in Jerusalem's Old City after he attempted to take an officer's weapon. The incident occurred near the Temple Mount during the sensitive Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The man was later identified as a 26-year-old medical student from southern Israel. Eyewitnesses claim that the shooting was unnecessary and that the man was unarmed. Security forces were already on alert in Jerusalem and the West Bank on Friday as tens of thousands of Muslims took part in mass prayers at the site on the second Friday of Ramadan.
