German authorities seize potential evidence in Madeleine McCann case during Portugal search

German prosecutors will examine objects found in a search in Portugal last week for clues regarding the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, but cannot yet say whether they are linked to the British girl who went missing in 2007. The search was instigated by prosecutors in Braunschweig, Germany, who are investigating a German man in connection with her disappearance. The suspect, Christian Brueckner, is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence in Germany for raping a 72-year-old woman in Portugal in 2005 and is under investigation on suspicion of murder in the McCann case but hasn’t been charged.
