Massive Cocaine Busts: Colombia and Brazil Navy Intercept Millions in Drugs

The Colombian navy intercepted a "suspicious" motor boat off the coast of the Providencia Archipelago and seized over one ton of cocaine worth more than $41 million. The boat was manned by five people from Colombia, and authorities found 48 packages and 40 loose rectangular packages containing the drugs. Colombia produces 60% of the world's cocaine, and "go fast" boats are commonly used to transport the substances. The Colombian navy has intercepted 228 "narco subs" in the past 30 years, with 13 intercepted in 2023 alone. So far this year, the navy has seized 265 tons of cocaine.
