A global law enforcement operation called Operation SpecTor has resulted in the arrest of 288 people and the seizure of over $53 million in cash and cryptocurrency, as well as firearms and drugs. The operation targeted dark-web marketplaces, including Monopoly Market, and involved law enforcement agencies from the US and several European countries. Attorney General Merrick Garland said the operation was part of a wider crackdown on criminal cryptocurrency transactions and online criminal marketplaces. Over 100 federal operations and prosecutions were made in the US, with 153 domestic suspects arrested.
