Mexican Authorities Discover 45 Bags of Human Remains Amid Search for Missing Youth

Mexican authorities have found 45 bags containing human remains in a ravine outside the western city of Guadalajara while searching for seven young call centre workers who had been reported missing last week. The remains include men and women, and the number of bodies is not yet known. Crimes of disappearance are relatively common in Mexico, with more than 100,000 people missing, government figures suggest, with many being victims of organized crime. Jalisco is the heartland of a violent drug war, and some of the most powerful groups operating there include the Jalisco New Generation cartel (CJNG), and their rival, Nueva Plaza.
