"Costa Rica Declares State of Emergency as Migrant Surge Intensifies"

Costa Rica's President Rodrigo Chaves has ordered officials to declare a state of emergency as the number of migrants passing through the country has sharply increased. Over 60,000 people have crossed the Costa Rican border town shared with Panama in September alone. Chaves plans to visit Panama in early October to discuss the migrant crisis.
