Houthi Rebels Target Norwegian Tanker in Response to Israel-bound Ship Threat

Yemen's Houthi militants have claimed responsibility for attacking a Norwegian tanker, the Strinda, which was headed for Israel. The attack occurred after the crew allegedly refused to respond to warnings. The U.S. Central Command confirmed the attack, stating that the vessel was hit by an Anti-Ship Cruise Missile (ASCM) launched from a Houthi-controlled area. The Strinda reported damage and a fire on board but no casualties. The Houthi's recent announcement to target all vessels heading for Israel has raised security concerns in the Red Sea region. The U.S. is in talks with other countries to form a maritime task force to escort commercial ships in the area.
